Day 2 : Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp.

Wave goodbye to the forest as you climb through a place with big heather plants and volcanic formations. Spend a whole day climbing up the hilly land under the Shira Plateau. Shira, a big volcanic cone, appears in the distance. After about 5 to 6 hours of hiking, you'll reach Shira 1 Camp.

Day 3 : Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp.

Cross the wide Shira Plateau, and you can even go up Shira Cathedral if you like (it's really tall). The day ends with a slow climb to Shira 2 Camp. The climb is about 3 hours without going to Shira Cathedral, and you get an extra hour if you choose to go.

Day 4 : Climbing Higher - Shira 2 Camp to Moir Huts via Lava Tower.

Today, you go up more as you walk along the ridges of the desert. You'll get to Lava Tower, a big volcanic rock, after about 4 to 5 hours. Then you go northwest around Kibo, the tall summit cone, and find Moir Huts, a campsite not many people visit. The whole climb takes about 6 to 7 hours. You can also explore Lent Group in the afternoon if you want.

Day 7 : Climbing from Third Cave Camp to School Huts.

Climb up slowly to reach the flat space between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. From there, keep going up to get to School Hut Campsite in the afternoon. Rest up because you're getting ready for the summit climb early tomorrow. The climb takes 4 to 5 hours due to the high ground.

Around midnight, start the climb to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. You'll be climbing for about 6 hours with your flashlight guiding the way. The path gets tough when you're close to the top. After reaching the peak, celebrate and then go back down to Mweka Camp through Barafu Camp. The way down is different and takes around 6 hours.
